Keep kids active with Coweta County martial arts for kids

If you are looking to keep kids active during the cold winter, family karate and martial arts for kids are healthy and positive options.
The Coweta County Parks and Recreation Department offers family karate classes for children age 3 to adults. Providing them with an opportunity to stay healthy, get a great work out, and have a little fun in the process.
According to Master Perry Huggins, a 7th degree black belt, the classes he instructs are designed to promote “physical conditioning, discipline and mental endurance.  Of course the level of intensity varies with the age group.”
Master Huggins has over 30 years teaching martial arts, and over 37 practicing.  He has found from personal experience that being involved in martial arts bring positive changes to a person’s life.  Originally from Newnan, Huggins served in the Vietnam War; it was there that he found his first dojo and changed his life drastically.
Huggins has seen children with discipline problems, adults that don’t respect themselves and people, who led destructive lives in the past, change themselves once they enter into a martial arts program.  His life serves as his best example.
Keeping your children active with martial arts not only has health benefits, it also has long-term mental benefits.  Master Huggins also offers an adult program, so that you can be involved with your children.
When are classes held?
Classes at held at the James Mottola Recreation Center (39 Hospital Rd, Newnan) each week on Tuesday and Thursday.  Ages 5-8 (6:40pm-7:30pm); ages 9-13 (7:35pm-8:35pm); ages 14 to adult (8:40pm-9:30pm).
What to expect:
Master Huggins states that those new to karate “should expect to have their life changed” in these positive ways.  “New students will be welcome into a family of support.  All of our students…encourage, help and support each other”.
Want to learn more?
Master Huggins invites anyone interested in learning more about the classes he teaches, or about him personally, to stop by the Recreation Center on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday between 5pm-6pm.  He also welcomes prospective students to stop by and observe a class anytime.
Master Huggins also teaches Kickboxing Aerobics classes on Monday evenings.  He is a certified Kick-Boxing Aerobic Instructor by the American Kickboxing Association.
